This is one of the main Festivals on the Riviera and a chance to shake off the winter blues and dance to the rhythm of the beat for an unforgettable 15 days ans nights.

Over 1000 dancers and musicians are on hand to help you celebrate.

This years theme is the King of Sport and refers to the 2012 London Olympics as well as the sporting prowess of Nice, France and the world in general.

The elegant "flower battles" take place on the magnificent Promenade des Anglais.

Nice is a lively, vibrant city on the Riviera and the first port of call for many on arriving at Nice Cotes D'Azur Airport, which will be your likely point of arrival when visiting our apartment in Cannes. You'll probably want to get your cab, bus or hire car straight to Cannes to the apartment on arriving in Nice, but do take time to get back and spend a day or half day in this wonderful city, the 5th most populous in France.

The France Show 2012

We had a great day at The France Show at Earls Court in London today. We wanted to check out the property stands with a view to placing our apartment in Cannes with a few more letting agents. We made some great contacts and it was great to be around fellow Francophiles.

Nice to hear the exhibitors say how lucky we were to have such lovely accommodation in Cannes and we agree. When we were describing how we could walk out of the apartment, stroll down Boulevard de la Republique, past the boucherie, the boulangerie, the charcuterie, the fromagerie and Le Bistrot des Artisans... the smells and the Mediterranean warmth came flooding back.. even on a crisp winters day in West London.

Ah well, we can't get over there at the moment what with school, work and the usual things that stop one from living in paradise everyday! But if you fancy a break in paradise why not give us a call on 07527 927527 (Carl) or 07979 450871 (Val)!

Anyway I'm off to have another of those lovely crepes that I managed to get hold of at the show today.

Time To Start Thinking About Booking Your Apartment In Cannes

We hope that you have had a good festive season and may we wish you all a Happy New Year or "Bonne Annee et Bonne Sante." (with apologies for the missing accents!)

Isn't it strange how for weeks leading up to Christmas TV adverts are Christmas, Christmas and nothing but... then as soon as Boxing Day comes it's as if Christmas never happened and bang - we're onto a few quick sale ads and then Summer Holidays.

If your mind has started to wander to sunnier climbs and where to go, then Cannes and its environs is not a bad place to start. With Nice Cotes d'Azur Airport only 2 hours from the London Airports, you could from late March onwards (you can go earlier - just thinking about getting the best weather), be at home in Catford in the morning and walking down the Rue D'Antibes in Cannes in the afternoon, in your best Matalan summer gear and with those cool looking shades you bought at Gatwick Airport.

So - You're sitting on the balcony of our apartment in Cannes, taking in the afternoon rays (the balcony being conveniently south facing), a cool drink at hand, watching the Cannoise go about their business. You want to look even cooler so you don your shades, pick up your paper and show the world you read...."The Sun." Image gone immediately.

When in Cannes, we like to buy the Riviera Times, an English language paper covering news from the whole of the Riviera - French and Italian. As well as looking pretty cool, it's actually a very good read and really useful in keeping tabs with what's on in the sports and arts arena's as well as an interactive calender with details of what's on" every day of the year. For instance it tells me that today there is "honey tasting" going on at Les Carreiros, 83440, Tanneron - so now you know.

Radio Riviera - Sounds of the Cote D'Azur

It's funny, when I am at home in England, I rarely switch on the radio these days - maybe in the car on longer trips and when I get board of wall to wall music from the ipod. However, whenever we get over to the apartment in Cannes, at Villa Marilyn, after throwing open the windows to feel a blast of Cannes glorious heat, the first thing I normally do is to get Radio Rivera blasting out. Broadcast from nearby Monaco, it is an English language station which not only plays the type of music that you might like cruising down La Croisette to, but has great feature programmes and news as well. Certainly worth tuning into on 106.5 FM.

And today as it's American Thanksgiving Day, they are playing only music by American artists.

Weather In Cannes

Today's weather in Cannes is forecast to be sunny with highs of 20 degrees. Not bad at all for this time of year. Certainly waking up to a cold and frosty morning here in Hertfordshire makes me yearn to be standing overlooking Cannes Harbour again. With Easyjet flights from Stansted, Luton, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Bristol, Liverpool and Newcastle to Nice even during the Winter months, our lovely apartment in Cannes is never more than a couple of hours away... and you could be standing with a view like this in front of you in warm South of France sunshine!

Cannes Is Not Just For Summer - It's For Christmas Too!

When most people think of Cannes, they think of strolling down to the beach in 30 degrees plus of lovely Mediterranean sunshine. Certainly people who visit our apartment in Cannes can expect this on a daily basis during the months of April through to October. But Cannes doesn't shut down for Christmas - far from it. There is something magical about strolling down La Croisette, seeing the Christmas trees and lights nestling between the palm trees and experiencing a Southern European Christmas.

MIDEM (short for Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale) is the world's largest music industry trade fair, which has been held annually at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, since 1967. Bringing together musicians, businesspeople, cultural policy makers, and journalists from many countries, it provides a forum for business talks, discussing political and legal issues, and showcasing new artists, musical trends and music-related products.

In spite of a large number of concerts, MIDEM considers itself primarily a marketplace, thus the artists present are those who either run an enterprise of their own, or have been invited to promote companies. The MarediModa and IntimodiModa fair that is held in Cannes is now in its eighth year. It is the top event for beachwear and lingerie, boasting the presence of international exhibitors and visitors whose numbers continue to grow year after year. As a result, it is a key event for sector professionals in terms of contacts, exchanges and business, old and new.
To keep apace with sudden market changes, MarediModa/Intimodi Moda Cannes continues to evolve. In 2007 it began to offer guests a new space devoted to producers from the Euro-Med area: the Outsourcing Show. The goal is to offer partnership opportunities not only to textile suppliers but also to those who produce finished garments.

Introducing Our Cannes Apartment at "Villa Marilyn"

The apartments forming "Villa Marilyn" which is where our apartment is situated, were completed in early 2007. We have owned the apartment in Cannes from new. We had a fully fitted kitchen installed and the whole apartment furnished, by Madame Patricia Lablanche of local Interior Design company "Lasting Touch" based in Mandelieu La Napoule. Patricia and her trusty assistant Francoise are our clients first contact upon arriving at the apartment. Francoise is usually the person who will speed round to the apartment in Cannes on her motorcycle, to present the keys to the clients, to show them around the apartment and make them feel welcome. Clients tell us that it is comforting to know that if they have any problems that there is help on hand locally. Fortunately thus far Francoise has not been called out for any SOS calls!

The apartment is modern and has been furnished accordingly. By utilising the services of a local Interior Designer, the apartment has a very French feel to it. It also has an instantly bright and airy feel to it. This feeling is only enhanced by the tiled floor which is very Mediterranean. The French window covering the whole of the front side of the lounge opens out onto a good sized balcony which accomodates a table and chairs and enables clients to dine outside (there is also a lovely wrought iron dining table indoors too!). Alternatively many clients say that they simply enjoy sitting at the table in the evening with a glass of French wine in hand, watching the local Cannoise go about their business.

Cannes isn't just about the Film Festival you know!!

When people think of Cannes, they tend to immediately think of the Film Festival (Festival International du Film/MIF) held in May each year. Understandable, as this is still the creme de la creme of film festivals and is the place to see and be seen for two weeks or so.

However, did you know that Cannes is a real hub of conferences and festivals? No wonder when you think of it. If you have to do business, there are few nicer places in the world to do it than in this beautiful Mediterranean town.

Our lovely apartment is an ideal base for all of these events. Handily just 15 minutes walk from the Palais des Festivals, it's near enough to be handy, but far enough away to get some relaxation. That's a particular plus at the time of the Film Festival when the town gets rather heavily populated.
